So, I’m a little late with this post but that’s okay. The year 2020 gives us a great time to remember that we need to focus on certain things in our lives. It’s been a difficult year thus far. A few weeks before the year started I was told about a serious health condition. This challenge was and is a very stressful time for me which is why I haven’t blogged in a while. I’ve had posts in drafts ready to post but they seem so irrelevant. I’ll go into this health complication once I’m ready. I just need time to heal physically and emotionally.
At the beginning of the year I made some goals for myself. They are more personal goals to help improve myself. I really wanted to do something that was good for my mental health and for me in general. Here is a little list about my goals that I put together at the beginning of the year.
#1 Focus on self-compassion. Be nice to yourself. Stop saying negative things about yourself. Instead of saying mean things, say positive things.
#2 Focus on myself. Ignore the haters, stalkers, and whoever else is toxic in my life. Let them talk. It’s not your business what they think of you.
#3 Focus on not overthinking things. Overthinking causes worry and that is something that needs to stop in my life.
#4 Focus on the good things in life. Stop focusing on what hurts my heart and focus on things that makes my heart smile.
#5 Focus on my inner happiness. Do something that makes yourself happy.
#6 Focus on the parts of family who are truly supportive of me.
#7 Focus on being my authentic self.
#8 Focus on trying something new once every month. It can be new places, new hair styles, new coffee brands, or anything that is new. Step outside of the box.
#9 Focus on those who aren’t toxic and keep those boundaries up with those who are toxic.
#10 Focus on finding peace with my past. Mainly childhood experiences and experiences that have harmed myself compassion.
#11 Learn how to productively work through stressful situations.
These are things that I do need to focus on. Self-compassion is something that I really need to focus on. Since this was the very first thing that I list, obviously I should do it. I’m sure all of us could practice more self-compassion.
Whatever goals you made for 2020 I hope you are keeping up with your goals.
